Miss Lucy's Story

Miss Lucy started dancing when she was 4 years old training in ballet, tap, modern, jazz styles, Irish, disco dancing, lyrical and more! She loved competing in disco dance competitions and performing in many shows locally growing up, and dreamed of performing and opening her own dance school from a young age.

When she was 16 she went to train at Preston’s College on the Professional Dancers and Teachers of Dance course, to further her education in dance and dance teaching. As well as achieving amazing results in vocational ISTD ballet, tap and modern examinations, she gained her teaching qualifications in Tap, Modern and Aerobics as well as a Foundation Degree in Teachers of Dance.

From the age of 18 Miss Lucy began her professional dance career touring the UK in pantomime and tribute shows. She then went onto perform in places around the world such as Costa Rica, India, France, Greece and Tenerife. Her work has included dance shows, music videos, circus shows, parades, pantomimes, weddings and cheer games, as well as working for MTV and even dancing with Mickey Mouse! During her time performing Miss Lucy choreographed for and taught pantomime casts and animation teams.

Once settled back at home Miss Lucy gained her qualification with Acrobatic Arts to enable students to learn acro dance and movements as well as other dance styles. She began teaching at multiple schools around the North West of England gaining experience of working with all ages and loving every second of teaching. She then decided to open Balliamo Dance School in 2023.

Balliamo Dance School was opened in 2023 with 5 classes on a Thursday evening. Our small friendly dance school rapidly grew to being open 5 days a week with 20+ classes for children aged 2-18.

From the beginning of our journey students have been given lots of opportunities to perform in local shows, galas, and competitions throughout each year.

In December 2023 we held our first Winter Showcase and were so proud of all students for rising to the challenge of performing their dances and acro skills on stage from the age of 2 years old.

In November 2024 we held our first exam session with UKA Dance for 43 students in a variety of dance styles and recieved an 100% pass rate and 95% top marks, as well as an ISTD Tap exam in February 2025.

In April 2025 we held our first "big show" Dance Fusion 2025 at a theatre with fabulous costumes and dances. Miss Lucy was so proud of everyone and what we achieved in a short space of time.

In September 2025 we are moving to a new venue to expand our school and classes to be able to welcome more students into our dance family, as well as additional qualified, nurturing and passionate teachers.

Our students are at the heart of everything we do and we look forward to seeing what the future holds for us all.
